Buy Darlo

in Football at 6:22pm with 0 comments.

So here it is, probably the last throw of the dice, and this time we need to throw a 750,000!

Darlington Football Club 1883, a new company has been formed, and it requires an investment in order to buy Darlington Football Club from the administrators. Three targets have been set to save the club. The first £250,000 will pay the football creditors and bring the club out of administration. The second £250,000 will pay the non-football creditors and save the team from an automatic relegation (or a second relegation if the worst happens on the pitch) and the final £250,000 will give us a war chest, the money we need to go on fighting in the future.

At the end of this fundraising the real hope is that Darlington will have a community run football club, which will be run in a sustatainable manner with in it's own means. Of course on top of that there is a need for interest in the team to be re-ignited and to a certain extent it already had been with the bumper crowds supporting the team but that does need to continue if the football club is to be a fully community funded enterprise. Sure enough money can be made outside of football by holding events but attendances are surely going to be key.

As you will have noticed to the left of this very post is the details on investing £100 (at this present moment in time) buys you 2 shares for the price of 1. So what are you waiting for, buy yourself a little big of football club!

Got That Bug

in Development at 11:25pm with 0 comments.

Well I needed a second post to try something out, so I thought I'd quickly put one together. It's safe to say though, now that I've started I've really got the developing bug back! Just so you know, things are making some great progress behind the scenes and it really shouldn't be too long before I've a fully functioning site on the go!

The Shape of Things to Come

in Development at 11:11pm with 0 comments.

Well here it is, the early beginnings of my website, very early albeit. So that would explain the total lack of anything but one single blog post, but what a fine example of a single blog post it is!

Rest assured though, there's plenty of work going on behind the scenes, this time I am working from scratch and making my own content management system. I've decided to do this after trying out numerous other options and just not being able to make the solution right for me! Wordpress just seemed to complicate things and other solutions just seemed to not cover all the bases and I didn't want to be relying on plug ins and add-ons.

So off the back of finishing my course last year and gaining a Foundation Degree with Commendation in Computing (basically confirming my status as a Geek) and my improved knowledge of PHP, MySQL, JavaScript on top of my previous HTML and CSS knowledge I feel I am in a good position for this new project.

Keep an eye out, as I'll keep you as up to date as possible. In the meantime, Bon voyage!

Exciting Times Ahead

in Life at 4:54pm with 0 comments.

So Tuesday came and went, but not without interesting events!

Mainly because I handed my notice in after accepting a new job!

I will be working in a similar role - IT Support Technician - but with significantly more prospects!  Not entirely sure what my responsibilities will be yet, but should involve an amount of development work and support of some rather snazzy new technology in a brand new facility.  Safe to say I'm chuffed to bits!

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds

in Music at 4:37pm with 0 comments.

This week I have been mostly listening to...

noel-gallagher-high-flying-birds.jpgNoel Gallagher's High Flying Birds.  I have to give it to him, he really can write some cracking songs, even if he does say so himself, and he will!  This album really does hit the spot for those that miss Oasis.

I was I have to say very hopeful given the quality of the singles; The Death of You and Me and AKA... What A Life. Although the later remains my favourite song from the album who whole lot have been repeated a number of times on my iPod.

An easy entry into my top albums, and ahead of Kasabian for my favourite of the year so far beating the slightly dissapointing Velociraptor!.

Next? Bring on Coldplay's Mylo Xyloto, out tomorrow.
