On the hols we took a trip to Plymouth, which is a very nice City, This lighthouse has been rebuilt at the seafront as a tribute to it's designer.

Smeaton's Tower

Smeaton's Tower is the third and most notable Eddystone Lighthouse. It marked a major step forward in the design of lighthouses. In use until 1877, it was (largely) dismantled and rebuilt on Plymouth Hoe, Plymouth, where it now stands as a memorial to its designer, John Smeaton. (Wikipedia)

We arrived at this old pier after walking some way around Derwent Water from Keswick, there are a few on the way, but in my opinion this was the most interesting, it seems to have been thown together but it's doing it's job just fine!

This is the amazing Floors Castle in Scotland, It is quite easily the biggest castle I have seen and this is just a day after visiting Bamburgh! And Believe it or not somebody is lucky enough to live here!

Sometimes something interesting comes from something annoying, like somebody walking directly through your photograph! I love the abstract shape which was left in the middle, which is good because I don't think it was going to be a good photograph otherwise!

This is the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, which is a Cathedral which isn't yet finished, and is expected to take 80 years to complete, it's not in a useable state at the moment and the only open space (under this scene) is used as a builder's workshop!

I've been wanting to take a shot in this style for some time, my ND filter finally arrived recently and I've finally made the effort to get out and take the shot.
Unfortunately I think the light was too strong and the water too smooth that even a 10 stop ND hasn't quite turned the water as fluffy as I'd hoped! I plan to go back!

This shows what an addiction phtography is becoming for me, I saw how great the sky was looking and I rushed out to take some photos, I made a 5 minute drive to a nearby village where I knew I could get a good shot at the sky without the houses blocking the picture!

This picture was taken across Derwent Water from Kewswick. It was taken with the sun shining directly at the camera so I didn't expect much, but I was pleasantly surprised with the results I got.

I really like images where the red (or yellow) element is brought out of the picture by grayscalling the rest of the image, and this is another example of this.

This is one of my favourite photos, it is a picture of the instantly recognisable Underground sign, in this case at Covent Garden station, which I believe is one of the deepest on the underground network. I have again played with the colours, this was to bring out even further the colour of the sign, whilst leaving an effective black and white picture in the background.

This is simply the fencing that surrounds Durham Tees Valley Airport in Darlington. It's not a special fence in any way, but I think it makes quite a dramatic picture.

'Armadillo' and the Clyde

This photo was taken whilst I was visiting Grant in Glasgow. After walking across the bridge in the picture there was an excellent view of this building. It isthe SECC, the arena which is sat on the side of the river Clyde, which is flowing past in the foreground. The photo was taken in colour and then edited in photoshop to this black and white conversion, which I think makes it much more dramatic as well as highlighting the contrast between the building and the bridge.
